Q: What does the “QQ” in GLBTQQ stand for?

amydentata:

A: “Queer or questioning”. Some confusion has arisen from this, because the use of multiple Q’s has an additional purpose: Each extra Q increases the strength of the queerness, just like in musical notation. For example:

Q - Queer
QQ - Queerissimo (“very queer”)
QQQ - Queerissimo possibile (“as queer as is humanly possible”)
QQQQ - Queerondoando (“I bow down to your superior queerness”)
QQQQQ - David Bowie

I love The Mountain Goats, and this just makes me love them more.

I love The Mountain Goats, and this just makes me love them more.

After the Jim Henson Company posted a message on their site, disavowing and dissolving their merchandise partnership with Chik-Fil-A over their stated positions on gay and lesbian marriage, at least one Chik-Fil-A restaurant posted this.
I don’t know if this was a corporate memo or if it was only the one restaurant, but it sounds pretty corporate-speaky to me:
“We apologize for any inconvenience but as of 7/19/2012 Chick-fil-A has voluntarily recalled all of the Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Puppet Kids Meal toys due to a possible safety issue. Please be advised that there have not been any cases in which a child has actually been injured, however there have been some reports of children getting their fingers stuck in the holes of the puppets. We are offering a substitution of a complimentary kids Icedream cone in its place until a replacement toy is available.”
Translated: “You made us look bad, we’ll tell people your toys hurt children!”
As I’ve learned from my time at Liberty University, lying to cover up your own bigotry is a Christian value.

STUDY: 40 Percent Of Homeless Youth Are LGBT, Family Rejection Is Leading Cause

foreverliberal:

I do not understand how someone could kick their child out on the street period, let alone for just being who they are (because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity).

It just disgusts me and makes me so angry that youth actually have to worry about these things — have to worry about “coming out” (which they shouldn’t even have to do, because being LGBT should be accepted), have to worry about where they will stay or how they will live if their parents kick them out, have to worry about SO many things.

The end of this article made a really good point:

It’s all too easy to see LGBT homeless youth as an invisible population, but there is a very visible onslaught of anti-gay and anti-trans propaganda specifically targeting parents to raise their fears of the LGBT community. Rather than protecting children, the anti-gay efforts led by conservative evangelical Christians may very well be causing the exact kinds of child abuse that they blame LGBT people for.

I warned you about the thinking: Yes, please boycott Oreo for their support of Gay Rights. We’ll all...

jaimers:

Yes, please boycott Oreo for their support of Gay Rights. We’ll all appreciate you going on a diet. While you’re at it, please also throw away your iPod, iPhone, and iPad since Apple supports as well. Hopefully you have lots of clothes, because you’ll need to ditch your Levi’s and Nike’s too. Perhaps you bought them at … JC Penney’s or Sears? Sucks you’ll have to take them back … or actually, anything you wear from anywhere probably had a gay involved. Flying somewhere soon? Better not be on American, Delta, Southwest, or United…you’ll need a new ticket. Airline wasn’t mentioned? Just be sure your jet isn’t Boeing made. Don’t sleep at Marriott or Hilton (or any of their family brands) because you might catch the gay they support. That morning coffee from Starbucks will have to go as well, go ahead it replace it with a McCafe…oh wait, McDonald’s supports gay rights too. Hmm, do you clean with Tide, Gain, or Bounty? Use Duracell batteries, shave with Gillette, or use Fixodent? Brush with Crest, use Pantene, Scope, Tampax, Venus, or Old Spice products? Those are all gone too, stupid Proctor & Gamble supporting the gays. Damn, you’re using Internet Explorer or Crome to see Facebook and read this status? Download something else, Microsoft and Google show their Pride as well. Ah, but your drinks are safe. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Budweiser are on your side … if your side is on the right side of history since all three also support Gay Rights. Hopefully, you or your lawyer will never need in-depth research. Both LexisNexis and Westlaw, who together control the market, support Gay Rights. Drive that big, manly, Ford F350? It’s a “Friend of Dorothy” too, as it’s company Ford and General Motors also support the rights of all. So, do us all a favor, don’t take it all out on a festive cookie … just stay home and boycott everything.

Want to rant about this on Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter? Gay supporters, the lot of ‘em. In fact, just unplug your computer. Alan Turing is the man responsible for you having a personal computer and he was chemically castrated for being gay.

Shut the hell up and eat your Oreos.
